Where I’ve Been and Where I’m Going

micahYes, I am still alive despite rumors to the contrary. The past few weeks have seen me combating a major sinus infection, Mardi Gras (and the attendant house full of people), and some top secret projects.

Now is the time to unveil some of the news: My lovely and talented wife has been accepted to grad school, which means that we will be relocating northwards for awhile. Destination – Cincinnati, OH. Dealing with the grad school stuff and planing a cross country relocation has left me time for precious little other than my client deadlines for several weeks now.

Just to keep things clear: my New Orleans oriented projects (HumidCity being at the forefront of the list) will continue unabated while we are gone. While I do look forward to getting involved with the community in my new city New Orleans will always be a priority for me. After all, I have 300 years of family history in the Crescent City.

We do not look at this as leaving, more a case of “expanding the franchise” as WetBankGuy put it. Just like when I lived in New York city I will be taking it as my duty to spread the gospel of New Orleans food and music to my new friends and neighbors.

Many thanks to those here on the Gulf Coast and to those I’ve virtually met in Cincinnati (yes, winemedineme, I’m looking at you) who have been doing so much to help make this happen!

  1. Congrats to your bride and glad to know it is just temporary.

  2. We are so looking forward to having you here in Cincinnati!

  3. @Greta we hope to eventually save enough to get a house down in NOLA once she finishes. If New Orleans has not sun into the sea or deteriorated into an ongoing riot of violence that is. Time will tell, in the meantime my NOLA oriented projects are still at the core of my work. As a native I understand the “you can check out but you can never leave” nature of the city. I will be back for frequent visits and I will never miss a Mardi Gras.

@Daniel I really appreciate it. You and the other bloggers, web pros in the area have been simply wonderful in assisting our efforts. Thanks to all of you I am much more sanguine about the relocation and about our prospects (biz and social) while up there. You guys are terrific!

What a busy, exciting and no doubt, stressful , time for you both. You are one of the most gracious and giving people I have met on Twitter. I thank you for that. If there’s ever anything I can do for you – you never know! – please do not hesitate to ask. Keep in touch and so glad to see you’re feeling better.

  5. Terrible to see y’all go but I have little doubt y’all will find a way back many times over. Congrats to your often absurd and lovely wife.

  6. I’ve always thought of my “exile” as temporary. Good luck in Cincinnati, and hurry back to New Orleans. We need you here.

  7. Ohio will never be the same.

Like sand on a slope, New Orleans will fill the void but we’ll know what’s missing. Enjoy your journey. We look forward to your chronicles.

  8. Ohio’s loss is our gain. No wait, I meant that the other way round! Seriously, best of luck and safe journey. You will be missed.

  9. Thanks so much folks! I will not be out of touch, at least as long as there is an Internet. You re all too kind!
